Diagnostic imaging includes all procedures that are performed to create images of the body' s interior, single organs or their activities, respectively.
The purpose of diagnostic imaging is, for example, to diagnose diseases like cancer, examine a cancer's respond to treatment, and reveal or rule out treatment- or disease-related side effects and complications. Diagnostic imaging in childhood cancer patients is usually carried out by specialists called paediatric radiologists. In a kids' cancer treatment centre, they work together closely with the paediatric oncologists.
